You know, this is such beautiful
country up hereit should be called the Northeast
Kingdom. That was a comment made about fifty years ago by
Vermont native, farmer and then Senator George Aiken. And so it is known today.
The Kingdom is a four-season recreation area and a world-wide destination for
its spectacular fall foliage and maple syrup in the spring.

The Silver Maple Lodge and Cottages is one of
Vermont's oldest continuously operating country inns. The centerpiece of our
historic property is an antique farmhouse dating to the late 1700's, which was
expanded in the Victorian-style in the mid 1800's. The inn, which first opened
its doors to travelers in the 1920's, has been restored and refurbished. Our
look is fresh but the lodge is filled with many of the inn's original antique
furnishings and exposed 200 year old hand-hewn beams remain.
